If they all seemed to be doing things the same way, with brand messages saying the same thing… he did things differently and built a brand renowned for being the maverick.
His approach worked because he saw what could be done better… and did it. And made sure he told people about it. He appealed to people’s sense of what is fair and turned a brand into an empire.
